Cake Shows
When I lived on the East Coast, I attended my very first cake show in 2011. I left that show already planning to enter the following year and then competed every year until I moved back to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
The National Capital Area Cake Show brings together artists, hobbyists, and professionals who all share the love of decorating. As the largest cake show on the East Coast, NCACS compiles cakes from beginners and world renown decorators, each competing in various categories and skill levels.
I tend to be overly critical of my own work and confirmation of my skills by the public and professionals helps me stop and recognize all I have accomplished. I am so proud of my ribbons and am thankful for the experience and connections I made while competing.
Octopus
In March 2012, I entered a cake competition for the first time ever. I decided to enter just one category for my division, Sculpted Cakes. I have a particular love of octopus and ambitiously created one out of cake.

Dinosaur Nest
In April 2013, I entered for the second year in a row. While some folks enter multiple cakes, I decided to enter just one category again for my division, Sculpted Cakes. Everything is edible – everything!

Forest Floor
In March 2014, I entered for the third year in a row. After two blue ribbons in the Intermediate Division, I was required to move up to Advanced. I entered just one cake again in the show, sticking with the Sculpted Category. Everything is edible.
